Devlog #2 - Major change on arena and textures
Untitled Action Roguelike Project » Devlog

I have been working on complete change on the looks as well as gameplay. Mutations have a huge impact on the gameplay now. Camera is tilted slightly to make the game feel more 3D while retaining the feel of a 2D game. I went for "Ghost" theme. Both the player and the npcs are ghost like creatures. Will need to update the dialogue lines to reflect that later in the future. Will need to work on rotations of some of the objects like projectiles. Tried to add shadow image object to player and every enemy but had some issues with the perspective. Since it's not a major issue, I can postpone it.
Gameplay:
- Added mutation system. Some of the mutations have levels now. While mutation may affect your stats, they could also affect the environment like spawning lava pool, or healing pool. Mutation is triggered by either nodes or reaching certain thresholds.
- Added new weapons and items. Still lot to do!
- Changed the stats to make the game feel unique.
- Added better cooldown display .
- Switched from manual to automatic enemy detection and attack.
- You can earn items and additional mutation from waves now.
Visuals:
- Changed the textures of the game completely to make it feel more alive! Enter ghosts! Also arena, also npcs! Oh and dont forget the majority of the UI. There are still buttons here and there to change.
Sound:
- Added lots of sfx to weapons and npcs. In addition to the texture change, this should help with making this game more like "game".
- While music is still the same, I have some ideas about the type of music to fit the game.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed the display issue of items and weapons in the UI.
- Various little bug fixes.
